How to file your Will County appeal
- 1
Review your assessment notice
Will County published 2026 assessments on August 12–13, 2026. Your township assessor used valid 2023–2025 sales to estimate market value, then divided by three for your assessment.
- 2
Talk to your township assessor
Assessors are busy right after publication, so don't wait. Many issues can be cleared up without filing a complaint.
- 3
Check your property record card
Verify square footage, year built and other characteristics. You must use copies of the original property record cards as evidence.
- 4
File your complaint
File electronically at the Board of Review Complaint Portal, or use the 2026 Residential Complaint Form. Each parcel needs its own complaint unless parcels are contiguous with the same land use.
- 5
Prepare for your hearing
Check the Board portal 48 hours before your scheduled hearing — some hearings become non-interactive and are decided on the written evidence. Arrive 15 minutes early for in-person hearings; late hearings can't be rescheduled.
