Please read these terms before using NeighborComp.
About this service
NeighborComp provides general educational information and do-it-yourself appeal kits for Cook County, Illinois residential property assessments, built from public Cook County records. We do not act as your attorney or representative, and you are responsible for deciding whether and when to file.
Appeal kits and payment
An appeal kit costs $79, paid once through Stripe's secure checkout. No account is needed. After payment you can download your kit as a PDF from your kit page, and we email you the link. Kits are only offered for homes whose records suggest they may be over-assessed.
Refund promise
If your appeal doesn't lower your assessment, we refund you. Submit a request on our Request a Refund page within 12 months of purchase, with your order number, the email used at checkout, and the decision letter from the Assessor or Board of Review. We review requests by hand and refund to the original payment method.
Your responsibility
You must verify property information, comparison evidence, appeal deadlines, filing requirements, and any final decision with the relevant agency. We do not submit appeals for you. We cannot promise a reduction in assessment or taxes.
